Tucked away in a peaceful bushy cul-de-sac, at Gumnut you get away from it all, while only being a 5-minute drive to town. These contemporary artists cottage is the perfect mountain retreat for a couple, small family, artist or writer on retreat or group of friends who want to be encapsulated in the inspiring World Heritage National Park while at home. Gumnut is a mix of cosy mountain magic and modern living, with lovingly restored vintage furniture, quirky touches and all creature comforts alongside new appliances and fittings throughout that offer functionality and cleanliness. Backing onto the bush, there are no fences or roads between you and the national park, and you will enjoy a sweeping bush outlook from inside and outside. The fully equipped kitchen with gas cooker and dishwasher leading onto the expansive covered deck is an entertainer's dream, or the perfect place for an intimate encounter. The bathroom is a dream that brings the outdoors in with a wall of windows overlooking the bush, you shower amongst the trees, or lay and look out on the nature while soaking in a hot tub. The bedrooms are cosy and comfortable with good quality natural bedding, electric blankets for the colder months and ceiling fans for the warmer months. The mattresses were updated in October 2018, and are new, supportive and firm. One bedroom offers a desk area and a bookcase, and the other has a futon seat in it for a quiet reading spot looking out at the front garden. Both bedrooms have blackout curtains for long mornings in bed, or sheer curtains that will let in the bright morning light. The living space is open plan with double glazed glass doors. NW facing, you get bright afternoon sun and the colours of sunset. The slow combustion fireplace is perfect for curling up beside and is complimented by a gas heater to take the chill off quickly in the mornings or while you get the fire cranking. The kookaburras mark dawn and dusk as they laugh across the valley around you, and the gentle call of bird’s filters through the cottage all day. Sitting on the deck is the perfect bird watching place. Guest access You can walk out the back and into the national park, reaching Hat Hill Creek in less than 10 minutes. Explore the untouched nature at your doorstep. Bush walks and lookouts are in very close proximity. Blackheath village with its lively cafes and restaurants and high-quality produce, vintage shops, monthly market and all facilities you can need is less than 5 minutes’ drive away. Other things to note Bedroom Details: Bedroom 1 - Queen bed Bedroom 2 - Double bed Linen: Linen supplied - This includes Doona's, blankets, pillows, sheets, pillow slips, towels, bathmat(s) and tea towels. Bathroom: Rain shower and bath looking out to the bush and toilet. Lounge Rm: Open plan Lounge dining room and kitchen. There are speakers to plug your music device into, and the television has a digital radio option and DVD player. Kitchen: Gas oven, gas cooktop, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, kettle and toaster. Dining: Dining area table with seating for four. Laundry: The laundry is fully equipped with washer, dryer, iron, tabletop ironing board and sink, and ample cupboard space should you need it. Heating: Gas heating and Slow Combustion fireplace. Wood for the fire is not included in the rental, if you want to use the fireplace, we suggest you pick up a bag of wood and kindle at the Blackheath service station on your way. Parking: Off street parking for 2 cars
